The best time of the year...
June to September: it’s no longer a secret... the Brazilian winter is the best time of the year to come to the Costa Verde: there is fantastic light, clear blue skies almost every day, hardly any rain, it’s not too hot, and there is just this certain je ne sais quoi in the mornings. In addition, airfares from Europe are a lot cheaper than the rest of the year. Now is the time to do this get-away-from-it-all long postponed trip!
The days are perfect whether for a walk on the beach, a longer trek, or simply just to sit back, relax, and enjoy a superb meal, and generally take it easy. It is warm (around 25 degree for both air and sea temperature), but not too hot, and evenings tend to be a bit cooler; you will surely appreciate a sauna, a good massage, or reading by the fireplace.
During this season, we are pleased to offer our guests the option of booking without dinner included, for as little as 185 Euros per night (breakfast and taxes included, only when booking online at www.picinguaba.com).
This is also the right time of the year to enjoy a number of little known but great religious and cultural festivals in Paraty (25 minutes from Picinguaba). The most famous is the FLIP (International Literary Festival - www.flip.org.br), which last year featured 2 Nobel Prize Winners for Literature, and every year attracts the Brazilian cultural elite to the region for several days, as well as a number of international celebrities. This year, it will start on July 1st. Make sure you book in advance as the Pousada fills quickly!
COMBINE A STAY AT OUR COFFEE FAZENDA
If your international flight is from Sao Paulo airport (on the way in or out), it is easy to stop on the way and enjoy the peace and quiet of our now available coffee fazenda (minimum 3 nights).
SAILING THE COSTA VERDE
What about cruising from Rio to Picinguaba on a beautiful sailing boat, exclusively yours... This is a superb way to spend a few relaxing yet adventurous days on your way in, or out, and the right time of the year to do so. The views of the coast are breathtaking, you can fish your own dinner, sail around Ilha Grande, and dock at Paraty by the sea, which not too long ago, was the only way...
WHAT ABOUT YOUR OWN PRIVATE PLANE TO GET THERE?
So what would be the perfect combination? Well, you can arrive in Sao Paulo, a driver picks you up, and in 2 hours you reach our fazenda, close to the lovely colonial town of Sao Luiz de Paraitinga. You can spend a few days there, horse-ride, and eat organic products from the gardens, enjoying total peace and a cooler climate at this time of the year (18-20 degrees).
The fazenda is just one and half hours away from Picinguaba and its beaches, where you can stay next. After your stay and from there, there are 4 ways to get to Rio depending on how much time you have: by bus from Paraty, by car with our driver (3h30min, by sailing boat (3 nights onboard), or by private plane (25 minutes from Paraty, we can drop you at any airport in Rio).
Ask us for information and we will be happy to design a program that matches your time and budget!
CHEK THE PICTURES OF OUR ANNUAL PARTY!
On May 9th, we held our annual Party in the setting or our new Coffee Fazenda. We had a presentation of the Cavalhada, a group of 40 horses replicating a combat entre Christians and Moors, from the 13th century in Portugal, that survived in Catucaba, the village next to the Fazenda. We also had an entire cow for dinner! Connect yourself to the Pousada Picinguaba group on Facebook to see the pictures.
