Winter festivals in Paraty and Picinguaba

May, June July; this is a time of year in the region that nobody should miss: there is fantastic light, clear blue skies almost every day, hardly any rain, it’s not too hot, and there is just this certain je ne sais quoi in the morning. The days are perfect whether for a walk on the beach, a longer trek, or simply just to sit back, relax, and enjoy a superb meal, and generally take it easy. It is warm here (25 degree+), but not too hot, and in the evening tends to be a bit cooler and you will surely appreciate a sauna, a good massage, or reading by the fireplace.

This is also the right time of the year to enjoy a number of little known but great religious and cultural festivals in Paraty (25 minutes from Picinguaba) and the surrounding region. The most famous is the FLIP (International Literary Festival - www.flip.org.br), which last year included no less than 2 Nobel Prize Winners for Literature, and every year attracts the Brazilian cultural elite to the region for several days, as well as a number of international celebrities.
