Art Groups and Projects
The Picinguabananas and the Catucabacaxis (literally: "crazy inhabitants of Picinguaba, the bay of the fishes" and "big problems in Catucaba, the land of good people"), which symbols are respectively a banana and a pineapple, have been founded as an art group by members of the team of Pousada Picinguaba. They aim to produce absurd short videos on serious local matters. It normally involves local inhabitants as random actors. Look for recent posts on Youtube.
On our Farm in Catucaba, we made room for an artist residence program and are hosting artists under the exchange mode, where they can stay in a charming house (alone or with their family), with an atelier at their disposal, as well as natural food from the farm. They can stay from 10 days to 2 months and be dedicated to create in this very special and peaceful environment, be visited by our guests, and leave some of their art with us.
The Red Boxes project is an ongoing landscape art creation happening over a 450 hectare natural hilly landscape and elaborated by a team of artists. It is to be revealed to the public early 2011 when the Fazenda Catucaba, our sister hotel, inaugurates.
The gardens of Pousada Picinguaba are home to various pieces in metal from artist Bajeco, from Bichinho in Minas Gerais (close to Tiradentes), especially designed for the hotel. The rooms of the Pousada all include original paintings from selected contemporary popular artists of Brazil.
